Craving Mexican Food in Manhattan?
When you get the desire for Mexican food, you've just got to have it. If you're visiting Manhattan and the craving strikes, hit one of these two Mexican food locations and you'll leave fully satisfied. Toloache Location: Midtown West, Theater District 251 W 50th St New York, NY 10019 (212) 581-1818 Toloache is an eclectic, casual Mexican bistro that offers a full bar boasting 100 different Tequils, take-out, and space for large groups. The owner (and chef) is from Mexico City, so you can bet this is no Taco Bell knock-off. In fact, Toloache receives endless positive reviews from food critics (including those at the New York Times.) We like that it offers a vegetarian menu that includes classics like Sopa de Tortilla, Enchiladas Vegetarianas, and for those who want to break from the Mexican theme, there's Caesar Toloache- a twist on the traditional Caesar salad. We suggest trying all three versions of Toloache's fab guacamole. It's open for lunch Monday through Friday, starting at 11:30 a.m. and open for dinner every day of the week starting at 3:00 p.m. Bonus: The ambiance is as awesome as the food; locals love it. Rosa Mexicano Location: Midtown East 1063 1st Ave New York, NY 10022 (212) 753-7407 Rosa Mexicano is your answer to Mexican in Midtown East. This trendy Mexican restaurant is good for groups, offers take-out, and is reasonably priced. Did we mention the food is incredible? Expect a sophisticated take on the traditional flavors of Mexico, including quesadillas that offer the choice of organic chicken or Natural Certified Angus Beef skirt steak and roasted veggies from local farms, and lots of seafood inclusions like a pork belly and scallop dish. There are gluten free options too! The vibe is electric and Rosa Mexicano is happening. Be aware that the menu is printed daily, so arrive expecting the unexpected. Hitting one of these Midtown Mexican marvels is a cinch when you stay nearby at Hotel Mela, a Times Square hotel that's reasonably priced and the perfect base for all your Manhattan explorations.
