NYC Upcoming Fall Events
There is nothing like NYC on a crisp fall afternoon. There are many exciting events that take place in the fall in NYC. Some of those events include the Columbus Day Parade, the Village Halloween Parade, the CMJ Music Marathon and Open House New York. The Columbus Day Parade runs along Fifth Avenue with approximately 35,000 participants. Close to one million spectators, view this parade every year. The parade includes music, singing, and dancing. This year's Columbus Day Parade takes place on Monday, October 14th at 11:30 am. There is no charge for admission. The Village Halloween Parade is a world famous parade attended by residents of NYC as well as tourists. This parade runs on Sixth Avenue in the Village, between Spring Street and 16th Street. Parade participants are found wearing some outrageous costumes and anyone who shows up in a costume can also march in the parade. The Village Parade is held every year on Halloween night. This year it starts at 6:30pm. The CMJ Music Marathon runs for five days and usually starts in the middle of October. This marathon is spread out in various locations throughout Manhattan and features live musical performances. Here visitors can listen to music from famous artists and up and coming artists as well. Every performer is on equal footing during this music festival. Throughout the city it is not hard to find after parties. Open House New York is a festival that lets people see over 150 architectural sites throughout the city. There are programs and behind the scenes tours offered as well. This year's event includes tours of the Grant Lodge of Masons, the Newton Creek Wastewater treatment plant and other sites as well.
