The Halloween season can be very fun and exciting for kids in NYC. There are many child-friendly places in Times Square that the whole family can have a blast with.
The Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the New York Botanical Gardens is a kid friendly event featuring jack-o-lantern carving and more. The Pumpkin House is a great place for young kids to play. Kids can even put on a puppet show in the Pumpkin Puppet Theatre. There is a parade held during the event in which kids can march in their costumes. Older kids can take lessons on how to carve a pumpkin and can plant buckwheat seeds they can take home and grow.
The Spooky Nighttime Adventure is also held at the New York Botanical Gardens. This gives brave kids a chance to visit the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden and look at the garden’s creepy sculptures. They can also listen for the scary sounds of an October night and go trick-or-treating along the path of the garden. Kids are also permitted to decorate a pumpkin at this event that they can then take home with them.
For kids who can handle a scarier, more intense Halloween event, there is Dr. Blood: Losing His Patients. This is a show that involves the performing of scary magic tricks and experiments, which include chopping off someone’s arm, sawing them in half and poking their eyeballs out. Upon conclusion of the show the audience is allowed to put fake blood on themselves and even learn how Dr. Blood does his magic tricks.
For any of these kid friendly events, parents can book their family in a Times Square hotel so that the entire family can be close to these very scary Halloween events.
