One of those shows is called Smash. In February of 2013, multiple scenes were filmed for various episodes of the second season of Smash and people in Times Square spotted Smash stars such as Savannah Wise, Megan Hilty, Leslie Odom Jr. and Wes Taylor. Other TV shows that have filmed in Times Square include Glee, Project Runway and America’s Marines. Glee is a show about a high school Glee choir, while Project Runway is a reality show that pits up and coming fashion designers against each other to determine who is named the best by the judges. America’s Marine’s is a documentary series that follows marines all over the country and shows a glimpse into what they endure to keep the country safe. The former MTV show Total Request Live was filmed in Times Square every weekday for the duration of the show’s run. Major news show Good Morning America is broadcast live from Times Square every morning. Shows such as Law & Order Special Victims Unit have filmed in Times Square in the past. Perhaps the most famous TV show filmed in Times Square is Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve. This show broadcasts live every New Year’s Eve from Times Square as visitors and celebrities gather to ring in the new year and watch the ball drop. It is not unusual for TV shows to be filming in Times Square on any given day since it is such a popular NYC attraction. Those wanting to catch a glimpse of a TV show being filmed should stay in a Times Square hotel.
