Two Must-Visit Manhattan Museums

Are you staying in a comfortable NYC boutique hotel like Hotel Mela, and looking to make a day of museum hopping? We are here to help. You probably already know about Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Manhattan’s entertaining Madame Tussauds's Wax Museum- but have you heard of the Frick Collection or visited the American Museum of Natural History? We think these are two must-visit Manhattan museums. Read on and discover why. The Frick Collection Location: 1 E 70th St. New York, NY 10021 (212) 288-0700 Hours: Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sundays: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Collection is housed in his Frick’s former residence on Fifth Avenue, a Gilded Age mansion located in Manhattan’s wealthy Upper East Side neighborhood. Because the work is displayed in a home, the setting is very intimate feeling and relaxing. You’ll find yourself enjoying the art as well as the architecture as you stroll through the Collection's sixteen permanent galleries. Plan on discovering pieces by Whistler, Bellini, Rembrandt and more in the. We particularly enjoy that the work is displayed without regard to period- offering a surprise in every room. American Museum of Natural History Location: Central Park W at 79th St. New York, NY 10024 (212) 769-5100 Hours: Open every day of the year (except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day) from 10:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. Head to the Upper West Side of Manhattan and explore the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH)- you’ll be glad you did. Founded in 1869, this must-visit museum offers dozens of amazing dioramas, a full size model of a Blue Whale, and the famous Willamette Meteorite that weighs in at over 15 tons. IMAX shows are also offered, but aren’t included in general admission price.
